Air preparation makes the difference:

Clean, dry air extends seal life and keeps checks from sticking. For your air-driven pump, use filtration (5 micron), a regulator, and, only if the model allows, a light mist lubricator. Many units are dry lube and shouldn't see oil.
Also, drain condensate. And keep lines short; pressure drop steals performance.

What fluids are compatible?

Most air-powered hydraulic pump units handle petroleum-based hydraulic oils and many water-glycol blends. Elastomers matter:
- Buna-N for general service
- FKM for higher temps or aggressive oils
- EPDM for some specialty fluids
